When I hit five-o, my sister Stella asked me why I had quit painting. She reminded me that as I child I drew and painted constantly. I didn't have an answer for her at the time, but ran out and purchased pencils and paint. Since that day I haven't been able to stop; I would be in my art studio all day if I could. Fortunately, my husband and our dog, Arlo, help keep me in balance!
I'm actually grateful I didn't paint while immersed in raising our two wonderful sons. I tend to be overly-focused on my art projects, and I think I was a better parent because I was focused on my sons rather than the perfect watercolor wash. Now that my sons are raised and successfully launched, I can focus on my art - until Arlo gets a thirst for adventure and starts to eat my paint brushes.
I worked for over thirty years as a Registered Nurse. I'm a caretaker at heart. The people I've met and challenges I've faced as a nurse taught me patience, acceptance and compassion. I take the same caring professionalism I learned as a nurse and apply it to my business. I really hope my cards spread some joy and happiness.
